Qualcomm unveiled the new generation of its flagship chip at its annual Snapdragon Summit, following a new naming scheme from last year. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (All the information on the Qualcomm product page is herehere Press release)
Even if MediaTek is increasingly competing with the US company with its Dimensity 9000 chip, it can be assumed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will again be at the top of the benchmark in the Android world, even if the differences with the previous generation are quite obvious. Still, it’s no surprise that various manufacturers are relying on the hardware in their next flagships.
We previously reported on Discrete Devices that, according to current information, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be equipped. We will prepare for you clearly again at this point and look beyond the end of our nose.
Xiaomi 13
I don’t quite understand why, but somehow Xiaomi manages to be among the first to install the latest Qualcomm chips in its smartphones almost every year. Apparently this is also the case with the Xiaomi 13, which traditionally could appear later this year.
Samsung Galaxy S23
The Samsung Galaxy S23, expected in early 2023, is a special model in this series. Because the South Koreans used the latest Snapdragon chips before – but only in some markets, not including Europe. However, according to current rumors, this will change next year, which is why we can look forward to a Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 here in Germany as well.
OnePlus 11
OnePlus faced some criticism with the last generation of its flagship, which was partly due to the software, with indications that the OnePlus 11 will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 next year.
Oppo Find X6 Pro
When one thinks of OnePlus, the next thought is definitely Oppo. Chinese brands work closely together, especially when it comes to hardware, so it can be assumed that the upcoming Oppo Find X6 Pro will also come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is not clear exactly when the new Find flagship will be presented – but it should be in the first half of 2023.
Motorola Edge 40 Pro
In its home country of China, Motorola sells its current top devices in a series called the X30, which are technically impressive – for example, the X30 Pro was the first smartphone to be equipped with a 200 MP sensor (however useful it may be). In this country, the most powerful Motorola Android should hit the market in 2023 as the Motorola Edge 40 Pro and use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
More Smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
In one of its presentation slides, Qualcomm named a whole range of manufacturers whose smartphones should appear with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the near to mid-distant future. In addition to the above, it will:
- RedMagic 8 Pro
- iQOO 11
- Redmi
- Nubia
- ASUS (probably ASUS Zenfone 10)
- ROG (probably ROG Phone 7)
- Sharp (probably Sharp Aquos R8)
Does the built-in chip matter to you at all or are you sure you’ll get a smartphone with the new Snapdragon next year?
