What was recently found in the Ultra segment will soon find its way into the Pro model.
Xiaomi wants to present its new top 14 models not only before the beginning of the year, but in autumn. First there is the regular Xiaomi 14 and the better Pro brother with slightly more camera functions. Another shocking detail has now emerged from a Chinese source.
The new Xiaomi 14 Pro should have the 13 Ultra’s variable aperture for the main camera. This means the camera is able to offer the user two different apertures. This allows hardware to implement something that would otherwise normally be solved using software.
The main camera chooses between two apertures
With the larger aperture, the camera captures a lot of light and has a uniformly sharp image with little bokeh. With smaller apertures, the background blur increases significantly and puts the focused object more clearly in the foreground. This makes it easy to take portraits, for example, without any software post-processing
With the Xiaomi 14 Pro you’ll likely be able to choose from two bezels, so the “variable” in the name is only half correct. Xiaomi does not rely exclusively on this technology because it is expensive. But can definitely be marketed well.
