On the first day after the launch of Android 13, it was clear that chaos was inevitable at Google again. If you want to like the Google Pixel, you have to love a bit of chaos.
If you have a Pixel smartphone, you can actually expect very timely and regular updates. Google releases a new security patch every month, which sometimes includes bug fixes. There’s one major update every quarter, and three a year with Pixel feature drops in tow. There is also a new Android version once a year.
When Google releases new software, it usually comes out immediately for eligible Pixel line devices. However, the launch of Android 13 does not go smoothly for all users, as we have to tell you again.
Google Pixel 6a: Firmware released, OTA update coming soon
What I’m noticing now with my Pixel 6a is the new old futility of the “check for updates” button. Actually, his installation should be able to request a new update immediately, but again it doesn’t work. So my Pixel 6a is excluded from being able to install the new Android 13 “instant”.
Google Pixel 6 Series: More and more users are wondering about yet another Android 12 update
But so are those who regularly use Pixel 6 series smartphones. While many have received the update to Android 13, more and more users are reporting a curiosity. You will get an update, but again to Android 12. You can do it, it won’t help you at first. Later requests for Android 13 as an OTA system update are rarely successful.
So you will get updates immediately
If you have absolutely no patience, there is a short-term solution. You can enroll your Pixel in the Android Beta Program and get the finished Android 13 immediately as an over-the-air update (OTA). After installation, log out again to avoid participating in the beta program in the future.
Note: Google has been offering one for quite some time Beta program for Android Turn on. Also, current Pixel smartphone owners can wirelessly and easily download the current test version to their device. Still, one should keep in mind that betas are never bug-free and cannot necessarily be recommended for everyday use.
