As you probably already know, Xbox A company that strives to offer its entire library through backward compatibility, both physical and digital. Thus, Sarah Bond, president of Xbox, revealed a new department focused on saving games.
In an email sent to employees, Bond talked about the future of the company. Here he not only mentions that the development of the next Xbox console is already in process, But they also created a new category focused on saving their games. Here’s what he said about it:
“We’ve formed a new team dedicated to game preservation, which is important to all of us at Xbox and in the industry.
“We’re building on our strong history of providing backwards compatibility to our players and are committed to delivering an incredible library of Xbox games for future generations of gamers to enjoy.”
While this is a valuable practice, let’s remember that digital preservation is just an illusion. Eventually, the servers will be shut down, and all digitally available games will be lost Real conservation is physicalSomething that Xbox is slowly moving away from. On a related note, the Xbox 360 Digital Store has days. Likewise, these are new titles on Xbox Game Pass.
Author’s note:
The real save is physical, and unless Xbox decides to re-release physical games, they’re not achieving their goal. However, Microsoft is one of the few companies that can keep servers alive that offer all of the company’s games in digital form.
