Artificial intelligence, for better or worse, is increasingly being used in various aspects of the video game industry. Now it has come to light Microsoft is planning to implement a chatbotwhich helps in communication between users and support services Xbox.
According to The Verge, Microsoft is already working on implementing artificial intelligence to create a chatbot to provide support, e.g. Game refunds, console issues, and any Game Pass-related issues. This system is described as an animated “embodied AI character”. Haiyan Zhang, General Manager of Game AI at Xbox commented:
“The prototype makes it easier and faster for gamers to get help for support issues using natural language by pulling information from existing Xbox support pages.”
However, this is only one of the plans that Microsoft has with the Xbox. In addition to the help chat, The company wants to incorporate artificial intelligence into game development, game operations and the Xbox platform itself. According to The Verge, Microsoft is experimenting with AI-generated art and assets for its titles, testing AI games and AI generative NPCs. Similarly, the company is considering creating AI-powered co-pilots for safety and moderation tasks, including content moderation on Xbox, and AI-powered assistants to provide assistance in their interactive experiences for us.
We just have to see what happens with this aspect in the future.. On a related note, Xbox will work on two consoles. Likewise, another Xbox exclusive will be coming to PlayStation.
Editor’s note:
While the implementation of artificial intelligence in support chat is interesting, creating games using elements of AI is questionable. However, as has happened on more than one occasion, these efforts are unlikely to achieve anything significant.
