The race for the best camera continues, as Xiaomi launches the 12T Pro, a smartphone with a 200-megapixel main camera. But that’s not the only highlight, as the rest of the equipment is also impressive. We give you an overview of the brand new Xiaomi 12T Pro.
Xiaomi has the 12T series with it Many other technological innovations Presented at an event at BMW World in Munich. The Far Eastern manufacturer really lets it rip for its first global launch outside of China. But what does Xiaomi 12T (Pro) have to offer?
The main focus of this T-generation is the new main sensor of the Focus Pro model, which has a resolution of 200 megapixels. But before you say, “Who needs it? What nonsense!”: the high number of pixels definitely has advantages.
200 megapixels: does it really make sense?
The 1/1.22″ sensor (a Samsung Isocell HP1, by the way) is supposed to come into its own in low light and ensure strong night shots. Xiaomi relies on one 16-ju-1 pixel-binning, which takes photos with 12.5 megapixels. However, if you want, you can UltraHD-Modus Activate and shoot at 50 or even the full 200 MP.
According to Xiaomi, there’s notably fast focusing, optical image stabilization and 2x “crop” zoom with no major loss of quality. The Xiaomi 12T (Pro) can then intelligently crop your photos with ProCut, for example for different formats on social media.
With the 12T “non-pro”, however, Xiaomi relies on the Samsung Isocell HM6 sensor with 108 megapixels (1/1.67″, 9-in-1 binning) for the main camera. In addition, both smartphones have an 8 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera and a 2 MP “powerful” macro camera – which is not immediately impressive. A 20MP selfie camera can be found in a circular punch hole on the front.
High-end equipment with 120W charging
Under the hood of the Xiaomi 12T Pro sits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC With a combination of 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256 GB internal memory. On the other hand, the normal 12T uses a Mediatek Dimensity 8100 Ultra SoC with 8 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage. However, both the smartphones use Android 12 with MIUI 13 user interface. It’s unclear why the pair doesn’t ship with Android 13.
Another highlight, however, is 5,000 mAh battery with 120 Watt Hypercharge. Smartphones are fully charged in less than 20 minutes with the included power supply unit (under optimal conditions, of course). Both devices have one on the front 6.67″ 120 Hz OLED With up to 900 nits brightness and in-display fingerprint sensor. Additionally, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos are on board.
