The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is positioned quite nicely with its cameras. Now its components have to be transferred to the next flagship.
Xiaomi’s latest folding smartphone, the Mix Fold 3, impresses – at least in foldable terms – with a 3.2x portrait lens and a 5x periscope lens.
A Chinese tech leaker has now announced that the upcoming flagship Xiaomi 14 will be equipped with the same camera combination. 5x magnification on the Xiaomi 14 Pro would be sexy, though it’s still far from the 10x magnification on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
However, it is not clear how the sensors are working. The Mix Fold 3 has a quadruple setup of cameras with the aforementioned “zoom” lens, but the resolution of 10MP each is far below its potential.
Here it would be preferable for Xiaomi to use a sensor area of 50 MP and more like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (which is equipped with the same lens).
That’s not all, because there are surprising hints about the rest of the equipment as well. So the drive comes from the new (yet to be unveiled) Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which should be even more powerful than its predecessor. A large battery with 4,860 mAh and accelerated 120 W charging will provide the necessary endurance.
In terms of price, the Xiaomi 14 is likely to be based on the 13 series and could start (converted) from around 625 euros for the entry-level model in China, while in Germany the Xiaomi 13 started at 999 euros.
