The Aerosoft A330 for Microsoft Flight Simulator has had a turbulent development cycle, to say the least. Originally announced as one of Microsoft Flight Simulator’s first products, it was intended to simulate an Airbus aircraft.
We’ve seen several development updates, a new project lead, and even a trailer over the years (with a release slated for summer 2023). We were even able to try it ourselves during FlightSimExpo 2023. However, the aircraft is now confirmed to be on the market “About the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.”
This is a very surprising development considering that some very basic information about the upcoming flight simulator is not known. While we know that add-ons made for the current version of the simulator will likely work with the new platform, it’s unclear whether it will require a lot of work from the developers to bring it to the platform.
As the team assessed the status of the project, they concluded that it made sense to launch it alongside the new simulator. Besides taking advantage of the simulator’s new technology, the team confirmed that both the CEO and NEO variants of the A330 will be released at the same time.
Aerosoft hasn’t provided any further information, and we’ll likely learn more when Microsoft unveils the new Flight Simulator, which is slated for release later this year. As soon as we find out anything new, we will definitely keep you updated.
If you want to repair an Airbus A330 on your existing SIM card, LatinVFR is bringing the popular aircraft into the simulator and Headwind Simulations wants to offer a free version to the community.
