While the status of this latest title is still in doubt, one cannot deny that Double Fine, Relic Entertainment and Playground Games have had a poor job, especially the fifth installment of the beloved racing series. Taking us to Mexico, Forza Horizon 5 The world captivated the masses and became one of the best experiences of the last year. But the current situation is different. Xbox’s distant future looks promising, too Starfield As the crown jewel of Bethesda purchases, the Series X As evening fallsA very interesting proposition for a narrative adventure, and now it’s from a DLC Forza Horizon 5 Keep up the good work of entertaining all the fans of the brand.
In 2017, Forza Horizon 3 introduced us to an expansion that transformed the streets of Australia into a giant amusement park in collaboration with Hot Wheels. During the Xbox and Bethesda presentation last June, and after an unfortunate leak, it was officially revealed that this relationship between Hasbro and Microsoft will be revived, only this time in the beautiful presentation of Mexico that the playground gave us last year. the past
After weeks of waiting, Hot Wheels DLC for Forza Horizon 5 It is available now. Not only does this content promise more challenges, new cars, missions and locations, but it’s one of Xbox’s strongest cards for summer 2022. Forza Horizon 5 With hot wheels content? Does the game system and the open world work together? Discover the answers to these questions and more in our Atomix review.
Love for Hot Wheels
The surprise that this kind of collaboration offers us is that it is not just about bringing two well-known brands together and that’s it. Regarding this Forza Horizon 5, There is a clear love and value for what Hot Wheels stands for. While it can be seen represented in the cars and tracks created for this DLC, there is one element in particular that stands out from the rest. Throughout our adventure we will be able to participate in five missions that focus on being a class in Hot Wheels history, rather than offering a challenge that tests your control skills.
These missions go a step further by offering classic challenges inspired by the long tradition of Hot Wheels. Although a recreation of the car wash was impossible, we have a session where the focus is on collecting treasure chests representing the collection. Along with all this we have some facts and curiosities that expand your knowledge about the brand. However, this all sounds like someone reading an article directly from Wikipedia to us. Despite all the curiosity, they are appreciated, the way they are sent is not the best. It boils down to something that can easily be found with a simple internet search, such as: Why are the tracks orange, or what is the most expensive collection of Hot Wheels?
Fortunately, the love for Hot Wheels isn’t limited to just these five missions. This DLC offers us a selection of 10 vehicles. Although we do not have a catalog that compares to those seen Hot wheel exposed, yes, there is a level of detail and attention to detail on the Milestone game front. Although the number may seem small, it is important to note that we are dealing with a unique list. Each car has its own speed, handling, terrain it specializes in and more, not to mention the task of recreating every last detail from an interior and exterior perspective that all fans can appreciate.
To top the level of attention, the playground games also offer us a wide area full of curves, loops and the iconic orange tracks that have characterized Hot Wheels so much. Although one might think that realism is what we see Forza Horizon 5 While the toy may be contrasting the situation, it isn’t, and even what we see looks as good as the base experience. It is also possible to see a few giant green dragons throughout our tour in this new area. In addition to this, we have ice, water and magnetism sections that significantly affect the way cars are controlled.
Forza Horizon 5 Take everything that worked from the collaboration in the third game and take the next step. The level of care and passion of the playground games for Hot Wheels is clearly conveyed through multiple missions focused on spreading more information about the brand, a selection of cars that make the toys more realistic that every child had in their home, and tracks that are present in the base experience with the driving system. Works perfectly with It’s a love letter to Hot Wheels, though it feels limited by the structure we were presented with last year.
A new but familiar route
Beyond what Hot Wheels presents, this expansion offers us a lot of content. We have more races, collectables, stealth and speed challenges. All this and more is packed into a new progression system. Unlike the base game, where you unlock more content as you complete various competitions, the focus in this DLC is on getting points. Here we are presented with the different ranks of Hot Wheels Academy, each with a series of specific tasks that you must complete until you meet a certain quota.
These challenges are divided into two. Majors award the most points, and focus on completing a specific group of races and completing certain missions that the game doesn’t mark on the map, such as completing a specific route with a specific vehicle. Other types of challenges are secondary, and focus on exploring new maps Fortunately, the system is designed in such a way that by completing major tasks, you will have enough points to advance to the next rank. Best of all, every move you make will reward you with one of 10 Hot Wheels cars, as well as cosmetic items for your character.
While this sounds like a positive difference, we are presented with a few issues here. In the beginning, the freedom to choose what to do and what not to do is set aside, since you basically have to participate in all the activities to reach the end of the campaign and enjoy the best cars in the DLC for us. This is a minor drawback, as the progression system is pretty clear with the types of tasks you have to perform, and in no case do you have to be the master of the wheel to progress, but I wish I didn’t have to participate in the extra content I was a fan of in the base game. no
Along with that, the negative points that the DLC presents us with is that most of the action and missions take place within the orange Hot Wheels track. Due to the nature of this structure, the exploration that characterizes these games so much is almost entirely omitted and instead we have a fairly linear path. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible. There’s still the possibility of leaving the Amber Path and traversing the jungle, tundra, and desert biomes any way you can. Sadly, outside of a few collectibles, there’s not much going on here.
Don’t get me wrong, the Hot Wheels DLC is a lot of fun, and part of that is because of the new zones. While it would have been great to travel around Guanajuato on a giant toy track, the expansion takes us into a whole new area. Here we are introduced to three new biomes, each connected by a series of complex tracks that present us with terrain covered in ice, water, metal, expansive loops and a setting that constantly challenges the laws of physics. Like the base experience, driving without direction and heading towards the horizon is a unique experience that is very difficult to replicate.
Reach the goal
The question is: What is the price of this DLC? Note that the Hot Wheels expansion is not part of Xbox Game Pass, and you will need to pay $19.99 dollars or $499 pesos to access this content. In total, we’re introducing 10 new tanks here, each well-designed with its own pace and style of gameplay. We can enjoy a new and expanded area with three biomes where the magic has to go through this map through the wide orange track, which has its own challenges.
However, the exploration is laid back considerably, to the extent that everything feels fairly linear from start to finish. Apart from this, 10 more new cars could be selected. While there are some classics, there are others that feel out of place in the type of experience we have before us.
In total, we have about 10 hours of additional content, which can be significantly expanded if you want to complete all available challenges. As such, I would definitely recommend this DLC to anyone who enjoyed the base experience from start to finish. However, if Forza Horizon 5 Couldn’t convince you last year, the Hot Wheels expansion isn’t going to be your favorite.
