Twitter is in chaos right now. With the option to pay $8 per month to have the famous blue verification mark now available on your profile, many users have taken this opportunity, Just as expected, some personalities create fake accounts.
According to TechCrunch, multiple fake accounts have started popping up on Twitter in the past few hours. Here we see Users are posing as athletes, celebrities, journalists and moreIt aims to provide false information, and thus deceive people.
The most infamous case is someone posing as LeBron Jamesits star Space Jam: A New LegacyWhere he shared the message about his team change:
“I am officially requesting a trade. Thank you #LakersNation for all the support over the years. For bigger and better things.”
Such messages have fooled hundreds of people. luckily, This and many other accounts have already been blocked, but the damage has already been done, And the negative effects of the new checkmark have been made abundantly clear. Sadly, it appears that Elon Musk has no intention of changing his plans at this point.
On a related note, it looks like Nintendo has suspended its advertising on Twitter. Likewise, the “Official” label no longer exists on this platform.
