Google Pixel Fold, Tablet and 7a.
Things are looking better and better for the Pixel series, Android smartphones are selling more every year
It took Google years to gain mass market recognition with the Pixel series. And now it works really well. The relaunch worked with the Pixel 6 series, and since then sales figures have increased and so has the impact on the market. Market share is growing at a significant rate. Google is becoming more relevant.
In markets like Japan, Google is growing and can now assert itself in the top 5. However, the American market is particularly important and large. Google can achieve decent growth there too, most recently at 117 percent year-over-year, while others are barely plus or minus.
Google is making big strides with its Pixel series
Google now has a 4 percent market share in its home market and is likely to overtake TCL in the near future. Then, apart from Samsung, the American market will be firmly in American hands again, although Motorola is also under Chinese management (Lenovo).
Despite the rocky launch of the Pixel 6 series, Google has stuck with it for the past few years and it’s paying off. It wants to play an important role in the smartphone market, which is increasingly within reach, even if Apple and Samsung are still far away.
High prices can have a significant impact
Some time ago alleged insider sources said that Google has very serious doubts that Samsung can do anything against Apple in the long run. Which is why you’d rather take this part yourself. I’m interested to see how the markets will accept the new pricing of the Pixel 8 series and what will happen with the pricing of the Pixel 8a in 2024.
In any case, Google is on the right track, as current Pixel devices and market share show. What we need in 2024 is a decent foldable.
