Instagram fights tick tock with radical video overhaul
Instagram has announced two major changes to the way videos are shared on the platform, but one has been caught.
Instagram has significantly improved the way it posts videos on its platform.
Instagram available Announcement That will now allow users to “remix” any publicly accessible video content on the platform, not just reels as before.
Now, while watching an Instagram video, you can tap the three dots at the top of the screen and select ‘Remix this video’ to start creating your remix. It is assumed that older videos are not eligible for remixing; Updates can only be remixed since uploaded.
Additionally, the feature does not appear to work on videos uploaded as part of a multi-image carousel.
Have an Instagram remix?
Introduced exclusively to Instagram’s ‘Reels’ video format, Remixes lets you create new collaborative content by attaching your own media to an existing 4Instagram video and adding optional special effects.
Reminds us of TickTock’s “duet” feature, Remix helps users increase their engagement with video content by commenting or otherwise responding to videos posted by others. If Tik Tok has any success, they will significantly increase the chances of Instagram content going viral through popular remixes.
It is part of a larger design overhaul to ensure that the platform remains relevant and current in an ever-changing and competitive world of social media.
