After more than a month, Google has released a new version of the “Google Connect Services” app for its Pixel phones, and it seems to be doing something for the devices. Regardless, early users are now reporting fewer issues after updating the app.
Google itself says that the app “manages” WiFi and other network connections. This includes, for example, VPN offers for Pixel cell phones. Regardless, version 54 of the app (released October 1st) should bring noticeable improvements, according to a Reddit user, whose report has been confirmed by many people.
New version app may solve the problem
“I just realized that I’m sitting here on the couch with a full bar of WiFi and a full bar of LTE when I usually have half or less. I was so annoyed last weekend sitting on the balcony 6 feet from my Nest router with half a bar of WiFi! “
Of course, it could also be a placebo. But I think I can vouch for better WiFi performance at first glance. I didn’t move an inch during the update and held the device exactly the same. After installing and restarting, the connection seemed better.
Version 54 of the app should be distributed through the Play Store these days, but can be done alternatively Install it yourself.
Pixel 6 series: The reception has been critical since day one
I myself recently ran into serious issues with a Pixel 6 device earlier in the year when Google rolled out a faulty update. Since then I find that the reception performance of the devices is decent. Nevertheless, since its launch in the market, there has been a lot of criticism that the Pixel 6 does not work optimally for every user when it comes to cell phones.
