It’s been 11 years Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Hit the theaters. Since then, the JK Rowling series has been kept alive by other theaters, and a few prequels with poor critical reception. Now it seems so Warner Bros. doesn’t want to let go of the property, as a series is in the works for HBO Max.
According to Variety, Channing Dungey, president and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Studios, was recently questioned. A chance to watch a series set in the world of Harry PotterHe saw this success House Tournament, a competitive event commemorating the franchise’s anniversary. This was Dungey’s comment:
“There is a lot of ambition for this and we are engaged in various conversations.
I wish I could tell you there was something imminent on the horizon, but there’s a lot of interest and a lot of passion for it, absolutely. The good thing is that you can see how the audience is so engaged and so prepared. Our Unscripted team did a fantastic ‘Back to Hogwarts’ special for HBO last year, which resonated tremendously, then we did a quiz show, ‘The Tournament of House’, which was hosted by Helen Mirren. The audience is ready, they want to go, so we have to figure out exactly what the next step is.”
While there is clearly interest in making it a reality, there are currently no concrete plans to create a series set in the world of Harry Potter. Similarly, It is unknown if JK Rowling will be involved in the project in any wayAlthough considering the negative attention it has received, it probably isn’t.
On a related note, talks are already underway to create more Harry Potter content. Likewise, the Voldemort actor would love to do more projects related to the series.
Editor’s note:
I have no doubt that the Harry Potter series will be a success. However, considering what happened with Fantastic Beasts, it’s better to take this slowly and surely, and work until you have something of real value, and not focus on a product just gaining popularity for a name.
