The current generation of consoles had a bit of a slow start as there weren’t that many games released at the time, however, we must admit that we had some gems worth mentioning. Undoubtedly one of them was Pathless, a title published by Annapurna Interactive and developed by Giant Squid that amazed us with its spectacular art direction, as well as its very well-achieved open world and mechanics in general. Despite not being a great production that took advantage of all the PS5’s power at the time of its premiere, it was undoubtedly one that we had a great time with after playing things like Demon’s Souls or Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Interesting that the game remained exclusive to the PlayStation console even up to this point.
Sifu
They say not everyone can be a game developer, but talent can come from anywhere. Virtually out of nowhere, the folks over at SlowClap came up with a game that undoubtedly grabbed attention from the first moment, portraying kung-fu as we’ve rarely seen it in the media. To top it off, they had Kepler Interactive as their publisher, also a little-known company in the medium. What we were surprised when we started playing to realize its great completely innovative and different concepts if we talk about the structure, not to mention its impressive control and very intense level of challenge. The truth is that Sifu is one of the best reasons to own a PS4 or PS5 today.
Buy: Bridge of Spirits
Creating several highly beloved series of animated shorts in the medium, how the people at Ember Lab became famous and then eventually started developing their own game, which will obviously be heavily focused on the theme of animation. Why: Bridge of Spirits has caught everyone’s attention since its release, as its graphics and general appearance were truly something special. Fair enough for an inexperienced studio, at the end of the day there was a question about how well they would deliver the game. The great news was that we were not only faced with a beautiful title in its audiovisual presentation, but also very well achieved in things like its combat and puzzle design.

Play as a cat in a cyberpunk world? But of course yes. With the arrival of the PS5, Stray has become quite the celebrity since its release, thanks to its crazy and innovative ideas. Despite the lack of experience on the field, the French guys from BlueTwelve Studios have the support of Annapurna Interactive, which made it clear that we are in for a really special game. The wait is finally over and it turns out that the game of kittens and robots is as good as it looks, with a very deep atmosphere, well-designed levels and, in general, a world that draws you in from the first minute. And it doesn’t let you go until the end credits roll before your eyes. One of those adventures that we believe, you shouldn’t miss for anything.
journey
Probably started this trend of independent games exclusively on consoles and, of course, one of the biggest in its category. Developed by Thatgamecompany, Journey became an instant classic when it was released long ago on the PS3, proving that the size or budget of a production has nothing to do with the quality of work. The amount of emotions and memorable moments this short experience made us go through, remains for generations to come and is one of the best examples of what it is to convey emotions through a video game. It totally goes without saying but all in all this title is one you shouldn’t be missing for anything.
