Google apparently didn’t come with a huge upgrade with the Pixel 7 Pro, but there are still some things that are better than the Pixel 6 Pro. We want to tell you what makes Google’s latest flagship phone better than its predecessor
The display is bright and less curved
You can see some changes at first glance and feel them well. The Pixel 7 Pro is a touch more compact and the display is less curved on the sides. It creates a slightly different look, but most importantly, it feels better in the hand.
In a direct comparison, you can even see with the naked eye that the display is brighter. Not necessarily significantly visible, but clearly noticeable.
Refined some points of design
It is worth noting that the keys on the right edge of the case have moved significantly downwards. A very good decision, because I can reach them more easily this way. And other things have also changed on the housing front.
Google has made significant changes to the antenna design. Small stripes are partially arranged differently. Of course, it’s especially noticeable above that there are no more ugly plastic strips in the color of the housing.
In the camera area, the design was different, with how the camera bar looks on one side and how it flows smoothly into the housing frame. Although Google keeps the basic look, it has been able to refine it with the right tools
The camera can do more
At first glance, not much has changed, but the Pixel 7 Pro’s camera could do a bit more. This includes the ultra-wide-angle camera, which is now also suitable for macro shots thanks to the new autofocus.
Also, the new camera is a bit more far-sighted thanks to the ultra-wide angle. You have a higher angle, which is now 0.5x instead of 0.7x or 125.8° instead of 114°.
Something happened with Zoom too. Google touts many improvements because the hardware is now being used better. I don’t see a significant advantage at most lower zoom levels, but above 10x zoom the Pixel 7 Pro sometimes does better in detail.
On the one hand, it can stabilize the image in a completely different way and that alone enables a smooth recording. Another new feature of the software is that you can see the section from which the camera crops.
And when it comes to details like text, even at 30x zoom, the Pixel 7 Pro can outperform the Pixel 6 Pro at 20x zoom.
Optimizing system performance
The Pixel 7 Pro shouldn’t be as warm, and it has a bit more power under the hood. In any case, when comparing benchmarks with repeated executions, it is noticeable that the Pixel 6 Pro slowly and consistently achieved worse scores, while the Pixel 7 Pro managed to maintain its performance level better.
Unlocks much faster
A very big point is the fast unlocking. Google has installed a new fingerprint sensor that works much faster. Now almost a quick touch is enough to recognize the finger. But it only gets really fast with Face Unlock.
Because the phone can recognize faces at the same time, it often unlocks before a finger even lands on the sensor. That’s almost perfect.
Google Pixel 7 Pro
Compared to the Pixel 6 Pro, there are some improvements that the new Pixel 7 Pro now brings with it. Some notable, some not.
