TL; DR
- One liqueur suggested that the OnePlus Alert Slider may appear on the lower front phone.
- OnePlus can only save the feature for premium phones.
- Liquor further suggests that premium Oppo phones can get many favorite sliders.
Earlier today, we saw a OnePlus leak that looks like OnePlus 10 (or possibly OnePlus 10T). Whatever its name, the render seemed suspicious because it lacked an integral feature: the alert slider.
According to Yogesh Brar – The source of this render leak – it’s by design. Brar claims that OnePlus is stopping the inclusion of alert sliders in all but the most premium devices.
Check out Brar’s tweets on this topic:
The Nord 2T was the last phone to carry a warning slider, now it can be seen on most Pro models and some Oppo flagships.
Interestingly, Brar further claims that the sister brand Oppo may start releasing flagship phones with the OnePlus alert slider on board.
This will be a huge change as the alert slider is a big aspect of OnePlus’ hardware identity. At the same time scaling the inclusion of that feature and giving it to other non-OnePlus phones is quite significant.
Of course this is a rumor for now. We have to wait and see how things pan out before we go too far. While this is being implemented, it will probably deeply regret longtime OnePlus fans as another bit of brand identity chips.
